1. Renal creatinine and inulin clearances were compared between sheep fed (a) high nitrogen and high energy diet; (b) low nitrogen and high energy diet and (c) low nitrogen and low energy diet. 2. Inulin clearance was significantly lower in sheep on both low nitrogen diets vs the group with high nitrogen intake. Differences were not ascertained between the groups on low nitrogen diets. 3. No significant differences were found in the creatinine clearance. The creatinine inulin clearance ratio was higher when animals were fed low nitrogen diets, vs the group on a high nitrogen diet. 4. Results suggest that the endogenous creatinine is not suitable for the GFR measurement in sheep under the different conditions of nutrition.  相似文献

Karyotypes ofAllium fistulosum, A. altaicum andA. cepa cv. Karmen are described and protein patterns of their seeds determined by immunoelectrophoresis are compared. Esterase isoenzymes were evaluated by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and isoelectrofocusing. Karyological and chemotaxonomical analysis confirmed thatA. fistulosum andA. altaicum are closely related and both species are taxonomieally distant fromA. cepa cv. Karmen.  相似文献

The urea concentration in the renal cortex ([RC]) of pentobarbital-anaesthetized dogs was 5.71 times higher than the plasma concentration ([P]); the liver ([L]) and the skeletal muscle ([SM]) concentrations were the same as ([P]). Rapid infusion of 20% urea (1 g/kg b.w. within 1 min) was followed by a sudden increase in [P]; [RC] and [L] rose to values nonsignificantly different from [P] and remained non-significantly different for the whole 4 hours of the experiment; at the end, [P] was still about 10 times higher than before infusion. Surprisingly, [SM] 2 and 6 min after infusion was significantly lower than [P]; later they were the same. The experiment thus does not testify to the existence of active transport of urea in the RC. The permeability of the skeletal muscle membrane for urea is lower than that of the RC and liver. Chronic uraemia was induced in rats by transplanting the trigonum vesicae into the peritoneal cavity. In addition to the chemical determination of urea, 14C-urea (marked*) was also measured. [RC]/[P] and [RC*]/[P*] fell as [P] rose; [L], [L*] [SM] and [SM*] never differed from [P] or [P*]. Fluid [PF] collected in the peritoneal cavity had the same chemically determined and radioactive urea concentration as P, but it was hypoosmolar and had a lower [Na+] than P. These experiments likewise did not testify to active urea transport in the RC. It is not clear what caused the osmolarity and sodium gradient between the PF and P, but the peritoneal wall definitely did not act as a simple dialyzing membrane.  相似文献

N, P, K, Ca, and Mg contents, chlorophyll content, gibberellin-like substance content, photosynthetic and respiration rates, Hill reaction activity, and specific leaf area of different parts of the leaf blade of maize (Zea mays L.) were determined. Parts with highest values of the determined components and processes were marked in the longitudinal and transverse profiles of the leaf blade. Mammalian endogenous carbohydrate-binding proteins (lectins) play fundamental roles in a variety of mechanisms of interactions both at the molecular and cellular levels. We have investigated the binding of one of them (human brain lectin) to soluble acrylamide copolymerized with derivatives of either lactose (O-beta-lactosyloxyallylallylaminoacrylamide copolymer) or D-mannose (D-alpha-mannosyloxyallylallylaminoacrylamide copolymer) in direct enzyme affinoassays, in an attempt to develop simple procedures for detection and estimation of its carbohydrate-binding activity. Biotinylated plant lectins were utilized as reference standards. Affinoassays employed the polymer dotted on nitrocellulose and the polymer coated on microtiter plates as well as detection of bound biotinylated lectin by streptavidin/horseradish peroxidase reagent. Both assays provided reproducible binding, inhibitable by specific sugars. The microtiter plate assay is well suited to sensitive detection of the negative endogenous lectin by competition with biotinylated brain lectin. We conclude that the use of derivatized acrylamide in dotting and microtiter plate assays may prove practical for detection of endogenous lectins and that such polymers may serve as model substances in the study of biological partners of these carbohydrate-binding proteins.  相似文献
